HEALTH & SAFETY
-
Hazards associated with the work:
• Do not touch live or exposed services and power tools. They may cause electrocution, burns or fire.
• Do not touch any items labelled as hazardous.
• Keep away from hot works to avoid risk of fire, burns and fumes.
• Take care when leaving your home if we are working outside.
• Be aware of any items you could trip over.
• Be aware of staff working on scaffolding and possible hazards overhead.
Report any incidents immediately to your Customer Experience Coordinator or a member of the site team.
GAS
-
Make sure you know where the main gas tap is (usually beside the meter). Telling the gas engineer where it is will save time in an emergency.
In the event of a gas leak please make sure you:
• Put out any cigarettes.
• Check if a gas tap has been left on accidentally or if a pilot light has gone out.
• Turn off the gas supply at the meter.
• Open all windows and doors until the leak has been dealt with.
• Contact the free, 24-hour National Gas Emergency Helpline on 0800 111 999.
In the event of a gas leak, please do not:
• Touch electrical switches, lights and doorbells as these may cause a spark.
• Use matches or other naked flames.
• Carry out any work to gas appliances or installations in your home.
SECURITY
-
Esh and its contractors will carry an identification (ID) badge. It is important that you check the ID badge before allowing them into your home. If you are unsure, please contact your Customer Experience Coordinator.
Our staff will stop working if they feel verbally or physically threatened or abused by anyone in your home. Work will only start again once management believe it is safe to do so.
DUST
-
Some of the work may cause dust. Our staff will do all they can to reduce dust and keep it to a minimum. Dust will settle after staff have left at the end of the working day.
CHILDREN
-
For their own safety and to prevent accidents, please keep children away from all work areas. This includes scaffolding, tools, materials, rubbish and skips. For safety reasons, children must be supervised by an adult. Staff cannot work in a property if children aged 16 and under are not supervised.
